Mission StatementThe Kom Do Kwan™ will provide leadership and direction to Martial Arts School who desire to be an active part of a larger organization for the purpose adhering to a common standard of excellence and sharing knowledge amongst their peers. BylawsCode of ConductMembers of the Kom Do Kwan™ shall at all times conduct themselves in an honorable, professional and ethical manner. Members shall not act in a way that would dishonor themselves, their instructors, their schools or the Kom Do Kwan™. Curriculum StandardsThe Kom Do Kwan™ shall provide a published curriculum standard for all member schools including standardized color belt levels. The curriculum guide shall be made available in both electronic and hard copy formats. Member schools must utilize the standardized curriculum, but will be allowed to enhance the content of the curriculum for their own schools. Simply put instructors may add to the curriculum, but may not take away from the curriculum content. By standardizing the base of the curriculum taught at each schools, the Kom Do Kwan™ can ensure a high level of standards throughout the organization. The Kom Do Kwan™ will strive to create a quality curriculum standard that is high quality yet concise so as not to be too constrictive on individual instructors. Instructor CertificationThe Kom Do Kwan™ will provide an Instructor Certification Program. The program will consist of mentoring from senior instructors, documented teaching time and specific training on teaching skills, drills, educational methods and curriculum knowledge. Head Instructors may be grandfathered into this program based on their experience and demonstrated teaching skills. PromotionsAll Kom Do Kwan™ instructors shall have the ability to issue color belt ranks under their own hand and testing procedures. The Kom Do Kwan™ will provide color belt certificates to the members schools upon the instructor's recommendation for promotion. Black Belt promotions require that a testing board be convened of at least two members. The senior member of the testing board must be ranked two degrees higher than the candidates. The testing board will submit results of the test to the Kom Do Kwan™ Head Quarters and Kom Do Kwan™ black belt certificates will be issued appropriately. Video testing maybe authorized by the promotion authority if the situations warrants it. However, live testing is preferred and strongly encouraged over video testing. Instructors are encouraged to work together and sit on each others testing boards (both color belt and black belt) to build esprit de corps and share knowledge. EventsThe Kom Do Kwan™ shall host a minimum of two national events per year. One of these events shall be a Friendship Tournament. Kom Do Kwan™ schools shall be required to send two representatives to a minimum of one Kom Do Kwan™ event per year. This will ensure a minimum level of collaboration and and friendly interaction between member schools. Member Schools may request to host Kom Do Kwan™ sponsored events and attendance at these events will meet the requirements for event attendance. GuidanceThe Kom Do Kwan™ shall offer two types of guidance to member schools. Mandatory regulation and optional guidance. The following are examples of mandatory regulation:
Some items may have two levels of guidance, mandatory regulation and optional guidance such as Uniform Standards. Uniform StandardsMandatory RegulationKom Do Kwan™ schools will utilize the Kom Do Kwan™ Patch on formal uniforms. The Kom Do Kwan™ Patch will worn on the right breast and the school patch may be worn on the left breast. Kom Do Kwan™ Black Belts are expected to maintain a formal uniform and wear that uniform at Kom Do Kwan Events. Students are expected to wear formal uniforms with the Kom Do Kwan™ patch at national testing events. Optional GuidanceIt is recommended for schools to adopt a training and formal uniform systems. Students may wear formal uniforms in class but should wear formal uniforms for events such as belt tests and seminars. White - Sr. Green Belts:

LeadershipThe Kom Do Kwan™ shall be led by its President. The President will have the authority to select an Advisory Board to help guide the Kom Do Kwan™. The President shall appoint both permanent and temporary committees of Kom Do Kwan™ member to solve problems and regulate Kom Do Kwan™ business. The President shall serve for life and the office will pass to his legal heirs or designated successor. If a legal heir is unwilling to serve or there is no documented designated successor, the the Kom Do Kwan™ Black Belts will come together balloted vote to elect a new President. Each Black Belt will receive one vote for each degree of Black Belt he has earned.
